  4. Eating habits: Emotional eating can turn into a downward spiral. Many people eat sugary and fattening foods to ease their stress, only to experience more anxiety or otherwise unpleasant feelings as a result of the indulgence. Carbohydrates and sugars can also manipulate your mood by spiking your glucose levels, so it is best that depressed people avoid these food triggers as often as possible.
  5. Sleeping habits: Depression can severely interfere with sleeping habits, causing individuals to oversleep for upwards of 12 hours a day or experience bouts of insomnia. Sleeping more than eight hours can be damaging to your health, as can sleep deprivation due to insomnia. Try to set firm bedtimes and wake up at similar times every day.
